It's a truth. You can't unknow it. Perhaps it's the chill of the wind on the shore, or the parchment of the scales when sunning themselves on the rocks, but let it be known, mermaids everywhere love to find a warm mug of something or other to drink.
And wouldn't you know it? Most often, it's coffee.
Being a mermaid with a personal affinity towards this warm and tasty beverage, part of my on-the-go mermaid travels on this blog will be finding and reviewing different coffeehouses and bakeries, as well as other unique and perhaps even old-world establishments where mers such as myself may find themselves at home.
Today I found a lovely little place called "Choux Choux Bakery in Everett, Washington and it was just what I needed as I prepare for tonight's yoga class.
Baking is another one of my many passions, and my heart rejoiced at this beautiful little display. From pastries to bread, cookies to bread pudding, there was a wonderful array of choices and delights. And, of course, coffee.
I had to try the twice-baked Almond Pastry and a cappuccino... and a decaf Americano later, since I ended up staying longer than I thought to study. Oh, no!
The pastry was crumbly and not too sweet, which is just how I like it. Often desserts are just pure sugar and it's too much. Rather than a sugar paste, the filling melted like butter into the pastry itself until the whole croissant was one lovely consistency.
What a wonderful experience! Very grateful to have found this little place and will certainly be back, especially since I found out they make Irish Soda Bread (although, only on Mon. Tues. Sat. and Sun....guess I'll just have to come back!)
Cheers and have a wonderful rest of your day! Slan!
