Corona Virus quarantine got you down? Got nowhere to swim?
In light of all this madness, I've decided I still need a place to swim. I've lived in Washington my whole life and I still haven't been to any of the best beaches, waterfalls or little waterholes that this wonderful state has to offer. So what's a mer to do? Travel.
First step--I literally live on North Creek. Right in my own backyard. It's technically a wetland that features a UW conservatory at its entrance. It's not much, but it's a cute little bit of water I've never dipped my fins in. A good place to start.

The Creek gets much deeper upstream, but some gents were filming there today, so I thought I'd camp out here until they were done. However, I didn't anticipate one thing--

IT. WAS. ICE. COLD. I had left my neoprene socks at home, too, and only had about a minute that I could stand actually being in the water at a time. This may or may not put a hitch in my plans to travel Washington, since I doubt anywhere else is going to be much warmer--however, I don't remember Edmonds beach being quite this staggering.

Conceptually, this shoot was supposed to be backyard simplicity--simple fabric tail, no make-up, swimming in a creek. And, I guess it was, but it was so icy I had trouble getting any worthwhile shots. I also need to figure out how to be able to get into place for a shot while utilizing my 10-second-timer. Unless I can get some sort of hand-held way to snap shots or start using my Dragon-touch as a still camera. Research to be done...

Part of this endeavor is just an attempt to explore and support beautiful locations within the state, and I am lucky to have this little waterhole within walking distance. Perhaps it's not the time of year to be in the water, but I am willing to brave the cold to keep doing what I enjoy and finding ways to support others when I can. You can learn about North Creek and its park here (https://www.uwb.edu/wetlands) and help keep these bit of nature safe and loved!

Take care of yourselves during all this and find your own little place to wet your scales! Until then, Slan!
